OH GOD... I sort of hope( I don't know if that's even something to hope for)/had a feeling that Sam was somehow trapped in there or at least had the thought that he could be. GOD which could mean that Sam has been 'awake' for some of those... 'tried to kill my brother' incidents and he hasn't been able to do anything... That thought breaks my heart more than I can possibly explain. If Sam has silently been forced to watch his brother for a year now.
GOD my heart breaks for the both of them and as someone else mentioned. It was so hard to read Dean calling Sam an 'it'. It just really showed how detached Dean had become, how... stunted some of the things he has experienced has made him. I'm kind of picturing future Dean from canon... A little more hard and ruthless around the edges but our Dean buried somewhere underneath.
Oh sorry for the ramble... I'm so intrigued by this. *runs off to read the next chapter*
