This made me have a lot of feelings, okay. You had me sitting up straight and paying attention from "Sam." Harsh as a bullet being chambered.
I love the vivid confusion of Sam's tender, splintered mind, and how so much is conveyed so precisely and concisely. The whole spooning scene with the feather and the affectionate straitjacket, oh man.
Favourite lines:
Not that Sam couldn't use the money, but he and his ruined heart will be faithful till the day they die. A quiet little punch to the gut, and just, oh.
"There's a squashed possum in the gutter," the crow informs him. Okay, I'm not sure why, but this line really struck me. Kinda humorous and morbid and sweet at the same time?
Dean presses his mouth against Sam's and Sam thinks oh don't, you'll get blood on you. Sam is a heartbreaker, fullstop.
Also, I positively adored the whole scene with Sam waiting by the window with the crow standing vigil, especially given the earlier Bluebeard parallels.
In conclusion, this is amazing and my feelings are sort of embarrassingly wordy. D:
