I noticed in the beginning that Dean's voice sounded funny, but then I got caught up and didn't notice if it kept being 'off', but maybe it was a line that made it seem that way?

"Jensen Ackles is a ludicrously attractive human being." I know EXACTLY when in the episode you are thinking this! I thought the same thing. Dean was smiling at the desk kind of sardonically...it made me hold my breath and hope for more shots of his face in that moment, but it only lasted a few seconds.
