HOLY.
FUCKING.
SHIT.
They went there! They WENT there! Azazel! I kind of can't believe it!
I am ... bowled over by the amount of story arc going on right now.
Gyaaahhh! And Dean actually TALKING about "did Sam come back wrong", and to BOBBY, and Bobby doesn't look entirely SURE, and COLLATERAL DAMAGE. And OH MY GOD.
You may not have gathered that I'm excited.
But seriously, I think I might have *strained* something with the flailing.
I am such a sucker for DemonOverlord!Sammy or MorallyAmbiguousBadass!Sammy of any sort, so there was a lot to love in this episode. Sammy = Demon Jesus = Awesome.
And Oh, DEAN. With the saying he's not scared and being SO SCARED, and the whole conversation with DemonGirl, and DemonGirl herself who wins for giving us some info, for freaking Dean out, for CALLING DEAN A BITCH.
And we know things about demon politics and hierarchy and structure and underlying theological concepts!
And the Colt! And Ruby! And holy CRAP, they're just killing the human hosts all over the place now! And now if they de-possessed Ruby the girl would just die! And Sam with the COLT.
Also, re: Sam coming back wrong -- who else is waiting for the self-destructive sex with Spike to begin? Y/Y?
This episode was just so *interesting* because we've all been writing about and discussing these same possibilities (demons in chaos without Sam, Azazel, collateral damage, factions who would follow Sam and who wouldn't ...) and now some of them are actually written in! It's sort of overwhelming having that many questions answered.
I'm sure if I go back and rewatch I may take issue with the amount of exposition, but HELL. I don't care. Didn't bother me a bit, I had so much fun with this episode.
Oh MAN! Okay, one more thing! I love how Sam was all apologetic and awkward and puppy!Sammy through most of the episode, but the moment Dean was endangered he just went into action mode, no hesitation.

Date: 2007-10-26 02:55 am (UTC)I know, there was just SO MUCH in this episode. I love having him as Messiah and Sammy simultaneously. Such a cool tension, and except for Ruby he's going through it all on his own.
Daddy!Bobby wins at life, though it makes me worry about his life expectancy - their father figures don't tend to do very well! Or really, anyone who makes them more happy and stable.
And DEAN. He's kept things so locked up so far this season (his fear about Sam, his fear of Hell), and now we actually got to see so much of it!
I'm sort of freaking out (in the good way) that this is only episode 4 - there's so much season left in which this can play out!

One makes me want to corrupt/comfort him, the other makes me just ... sort of whimper and get a little dizzy and hope that he will come be huge and aggressive in my vicinity.
