Most importantly: HUG. HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUG! Extended hug! With long arms and sad!face!

Second most importantly: Dean gets all tingly when Sam takes control. (I knew it!)

Also: Sam keeps a ruler by the bed and cries all through sex.

Anyway, in other news, that was awesome. So awesome. I was starting to feel a little traumatized by all the deaths, but it was worth it. The hot sauce got funnier every time, Sam repeating Dean's words, that damn song, the gargling, the LIP-SYNCING, YAY.

Very good Jared episode. His faaaaaaaaaace! The exasperation! The desolation!

How awesome was it the way Sam got all organized and OCD when he was all three-months-later-crazy? I mean, he had the classic serial-killer wall-o-clippings, but it was all perfectly aligned! And he made his bed!
ASDLFJSDKFJKS AND GOT SHOT AND RIPPED HIS SHIRT AND TOOK THE BULLET OUT AND STITCHED IT HIMSELF. AND BOBBY WAS WORRIED.

It was particularly awful when Sam accidentally killed him with the axe. :( Boo.

And OMG, he DIDN'T TELL DEAN ABOUT THE THREE MONTHS? Whoa. That's ... whoa.

This episode was a thing of beauty. I'm sure this post will become full of ETAs because I will have forgotten a bunch of good parts.

ETA: Them sharing the bathroom sink made my LIFE. CANON SINK-SHARING.

ETA2: Whoever said Dean was dysfunctional never saw Sam with a sharp object.

OMG, I KNOW! My mother just called me for our post-ep chat (hee!), and THIS is the part she was still freaking out over. BECAUSE IT WAS AWFUL.

YESYESYES! SO AWESOME. THIS EPISODE KILLED ME DED. I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT IT.

Oooh, I'm going to have to go back and look at the bullet-removal!scene in Sam's motel room (purely for, uh, fact-checking purposes). I have a sudden craving for OCD!serial-killer!Sam. HOW WAS HE SO FREAKING SEXY AND SCARY AND TRAGIC ALL AT ONCE?

Mmmmmmmm OCD!serial-killer Sam. This fic needs to happen. Guh. So much evil potential this episode. The moment Dean said, "What's in the bag?" I was flailing thinking "HOMGSAM'SGONNAKILLTHATGUYHORRIBLY", and then with the BADASSERY and the STAKING NOT!BOBBY!

This is pretty much the only episode where we've seen Sam--and I'm talking real Sam, not Sam-possessed-by-a-demon or Sam-overrun-with-aggression-because-of-the-experiments-of-an-evil-ghost--this was the only time I can ever recall seeing Sam use the full force and power of his body to be aggressive. Menacing. Threatening. He full-on lost his shit when Dean was dead/caught in a dying loop.

I think maybe this episode could hold a little bit of foreshadowing, in that respect. Maybe it's meant to show us that Sam can and will go darkside without Dean. Dean is the only one anchoring Sam; without Dean's presence, his innate goodness, Sam isn't Sam anymore. And, yeah, that ruthless badassery was fucking HOT, but it was also scary and strange and wrong and so terribly, terribly saddening.

I think this was meant to show that Sam will do anything--and I mean anything--to keep Dean safe.

GOOD point. Sam doesn't just stand across the room and shoot someone, isn't allowed that level of detachment, he gets close in and has to be very directly involved with the violence, get all blood-spattered, really use his physical capacity for violence.
